Geoff was born and educated in Croydon, Surrey. After spending 3 years at WINDSOR in HM The Life Guards he started his career back in Croydon at the famous Fairfield Halls as stage manager at the Peggy Ashcroft Theatre.

In 1964 he joined BUTLINS as Entertainments Manager at Filey and Skegness, applying for the position as General Manager of an entertainment complex comprising of Hofbrauhaus Bier Keller, Scamps Discotheques, Studios 1-4 Cinemas and Star Bingo & Social Club in Newcastle upon Tyne. Up to 18,000 customers weekly would attend the complex, which in the 1960’s and 70’s was a huge success.

In 1982 Geoff took over as Operations Manager at PONTINS in Brean Sands, Somerset where he met his lovely wife Louise. In 1989 they both started CARBOOTSCORNWALL at Falmouth Rugby Club and this year celebrate 21 years, with a potential of other locations being added during 2010.

Louise comes from Newcastle Upon Tyne and planned a life studying law and become a Legal Executive, but decided to join Geoff in setting up Car Boots Cornwall to is present day success. Louise is very popular with the regulars and the business has a good reputation of fairness to the sellers and buyers alike.

Gone are the days when it was the ‘dealers only’ who got the bargains, now the CAR BOOT SALES start at the actual times advertised and at the ‘sound of the horn’ all buyers get the chance of the bargains.

This has been very successful, however there are still the odd dealers who harp on about the ‘good old days’ when they could “help the sellers to unload their cars” but Louise & Geoff believe in FAIR PLAY all round. During 2009 over 300,000 visits were made to our Car Boot Sales and a lot of the credit goes to ensuring the very few rules are strictly adhered to by all and sundry.
