Geoff, I used to attend your boot sales until my wife became very ill and could not be left on her own always read your web page and note your regular warnings on trust NO ONE!
This is a true tale from when my wife was well enough to do the boot sales with me. We arrived at BODMIN boot as everyone was just setting up, as we did most Sunday mornings 8am. There was a SWEET OLD LADY just setting up, I had never seen her before and she only sold for ONE WEEK! She had Eight healthy looking fir trees in pots, after some miner negotiation we bought all 8 for £6 took them home ,very pleased with our purchase ,as we had no immediate use for them I kept the trees in their pots and regularly watered them and watched THEM ALL TURN browner and browner they all died!
On investigation they were all bits of branch just stuck in pots! WELL the lesson learned is never trust anyone ESPECIALLY an old lady! SWEET LOOKING ONES especially!
