MITCHELL! Part 1
There are so many of our regulars who are wanting to know the details of what is happening at MITCHELL this year and want to know the details of why we have moved to across the road to Trethvas Farm.
For many years Louise and I have been distracted by the Landlord’s efforts to disrupt the smooth running of our Car Boot Sales. His last effort was to shout “This is your last week” in front of many of our customers.
Another good reason is that when we took over Mitchell there were three fields that would be available for our sales however the Landlord sold some of the land to Truro Tractors making the third field for parking unacceptable to our valued customers!
The NEW MITCHELL is a larger field 18 acres and looks across the main A30 and will certainly be seen by the thousands of motorists using the dual carriageway every day, potential customers?
Read tomorrows analysis of the 11 years at Mitchell with a dreadful interfering Landlord hence WE ARE MOVING just across the road!!

Landlord of Mitchell.
Dear David,
Louise and I despaired at your recent outburst on the telephone concerning the traffic on the roundabout and for some reason you mentioned Yvonne as a complainant that the traffic was out of control? Who is Yvonne? You then came to the Mitchell Car Boot Sale on the Saturday and shouted loud enough for several customers and Joey and our Catering staff to hear. After you departed two of our regulars complained about your rudeness and in the way you spoke to me in particular when you advised all and sundry ‘This could be the last Car Boot’ and the rest of your ranting was so unreasonable so is not worth repeating, however that one way conversation should not have been for the public to hear Mr Leggo as they gossiped all afternoon.
“I don’t care about traffic on the roads Mr Leggo we have been running public COMMUNITY events since 1989 and for 11 years at Mitchell, we have not had any accidents or incidents as a result of our activities and events. We have been complimented by the Police and approved in the way in which we deal with our traffic, we have been visited by all of the authorities at some time or other without complaint and yet when I confronted you with this factual information you were disinterested.
Wherever and whenever there are public events there is a build-up of traffic and what happens outside of your main gates is outside of yours and my control. I have no rights to interfere with the traffic on the highway Mr Leggo if there is a queue of traffic so what, no-one complains about the 13 miles queues of traffic for the Royal Cornwall Show do they?
Our customers over the years have supported Mitchell to make it their favourite of our Car Boot Sales and they have loyally followed me in my promoting of the location and their loyalty over more than 10 years which has paid you as Landlord exceptionally ‘good rent’ Surely that deserves more than being told ‘this could be your last week’ particularly if they rely on Mitchell for an important part of their income and their lives.
I have now decided that this is the end of our Car Boot Sales on your land and that we shall be relocating in Mitchell to TRETHVAS FARM for our Car Boot Sales for our 2015 season.
Back to the two customers who overheard and complained about your behaviour they are both from the farming Community in Cornwall and have been coming to Mitchell Car Boot Sales for years, it is they who are friends of the Landlords of TRETHVAS FARM and they suggested I should ask If the owners would consider allowing CAR BOOTS CORNWALL as their location for our twice weekly COMMUNITY CAR BOOT SALES to which they have agreed.
Their land is larger to cope with our ever growing MITCHELL business which was always doomed against expansion when you sold your piece of land to Truro Tractors!
We shall remove all of our barriers and signs as soon as possible and I believe as a gesture of goodwill you should allow Louise and myself to put directional signage advising of our move please.
Yours sincerely,
Geoff & Camden Wiles
