Security on your stall is YOUR responsibility!

I personally went around the sellers stalls yesterday (Sunday) at Truro to almost 100 sellers to tell them “keep an eye on your stock and make sure no-one takes anything that they have not paid for” and yet within 30 minutes of the Car Boot starting I had one furious man admit someone in a green jacket had gone to his stall while mum was feeding the baby and stole money from them!!

He was so annoyed he told me what he was going to do if he finds the bloke which of course is totally the wrong way to deal with the situation! Respectfully I am pleased the two didn’t meet but unfortunately we have moved into a climate where we will see more pilferages from our sellers and we must all accept a responsibility to take full secure measures at your stall and buyers be aware you are also a target of the ‘lone thieves’

Several years ago a buyer wanted to buy a blue hat from a stall at Falmouth and noticed another buyer steal the hat from the stall and put it into her shopping bag. The first buyer came to me and said she had witnessed the hat being stolen. I checked with the seller and she was not aware but assured me that she did have a blue hat which was not on her stall. Next I went to the woman who had stolen the hat and asked her to acompany me to the stall and she immediately said to the seller “You remember me I paid you £2.00 for the hat”
“Then you are a liar because the hat was only 50 pence” replied the seller.

The hat was taken from the lady thiefette she was escorted to the main gate and we have never seen her since! That’s the way to do it by threatening violence you may hit someone and have to spend time in prison! Think first security of your stocks then you wont get uptight my lover!

ps; Seen Marge we thought it was a good wind-up that certainly got a lot of imaginations going.
