Today at Falmouth Friday 3rd May 12.00 noon Car Boot Sale……

First let’s get the gossip dealt with about Russell, his daughter did not emigrate to New Zealand she found NZ too expensive so they will look for a larger family house. Russell is in private care at a Falmouth rest home and from the sounds of things the accommodation is good. Trouble is most of the other residents are nearer to meeting their maker than Russell who is an ever lively 86 going on 100 gets fed three times a day out to the betting office to put his shilling each way bets on losers but he has a good life. Russell says when they have got a bigger house he will move back in with them! Mmmmm? I wouldn’t he can be a right cantankerous old bugger at times just like Jim used to be, he is loving it where he is Marge was his first visitor which he had forgotten two days later when the “Queen of Gossip and news” our Ann went to cheer him up. They have known each other for years and remembered old times together but Russell has always had a soft spot for Ann (and a bit more the randy old sod) and she has shown him much respect. As she left the nursing home she sat on a wall and cried and cried for poor old Russell how lonely he would amongst the dying and nearly died old folk Today I ordered a taxi to come at the end of the car boot to pick up Phyllis and Welsh Babs and take them to see Russell he well remembered them both however when he was asked about Ann from the previous day he said “Ann, whose Ann? Stop crying Ann you are great fun at our boot sales and you are well loved by all your fellow workers and we love you for going to see Russell. Thank you.

I must do a feature on Ann she has such a good memory for the fun times at Car Boots, until recently Ann used to have a great stall as a regular over many years at Hall for Cornwall which is a ‘load of rubbish’ Hall FOR Cornwall it is NOT it is a private theatre and certainly NOT for the communities of people who have not deserved for their trading area to be held in the wind tunnel back entrance to the theatre. Before building of the New Hall for Cornwall it was emphatically agreed that the Flea Markets and Women’s Institute would still be allowed full use of the newly built theatre which meant having the sales inside the building. I believe a few toffee nosed people in the offices don’t like the thought of second hand goods being recycled in their building, their building? I thought it was built for the PEOPLE!! It’s for the entire Community stupid, not just theatregoers my lovers! Let me run it for a while?

Rosie is looking so much better after her op and did a stall with Gordon, they sell twice a year and always do the impossible by SELLING OUT within the first hour. Good value stall with loads of imagination and they adopt my policy; When you set your stall out decide that the first two items you sell covers your rent and four pounds towards the car so that is a tenner the rest is yours. I am not saying Rosie was busy but Securicor had to make two visits! Gordon looks quite knocked out doing everything for Rosie waiting on her night and day, I know how he feels.

I genuinely went to the FAIR with Lou last night and was so disappointed at the lack lustre support from the locals for such a well presented FAIR with brilliant rides and plenty of excitement but only small crowds. I know there is a recession on but I hope if I do special evening Car Boot with the FAIR it will get your support or you can blow up your pants!
