TUT TUT-Bad manners!

Circus Fields Car Boot Sale today 12/06/2012

A young man bought an electric guitar from a stall after asking does it work? The lady sellers assured him ‘yes it works’ and without bartering he paid the asking price of £25.00
Delighted with his purchase he left the boot sale and went to a local Newquay music shop and asked the Manager if he would test the guitar!
A quick test revealed it was at fault and deffinately did not and would not work! He came back to the sale accompanied by the shop manager to confront the lady seller and ask for a refund of his 25 quid!
She immediately went on a ‘rude defensive’ attitude accusing the young buyer of breaking the instrument and refused to refund!
Quietly and politely the buyer related the story to me!
We have in our rules ‘If a buyer is asked does the item work and it is tested and found not working then the buyer is entitled to a full refund without question’
Louise is a legal executive and I asked her to accompany the man to ask again for his refund to the seller! The daughter of the seller said ‘Give the refund Mum’ but Mum was adamant not to refund however daughter and Louise eventually persuaded a refund was the right way to resolve the problem. Had the refund not been given the seller would be told ‘You are not welcome to any of our Boot Sales because the buyer bought the item in good faith and you broke that contract with him by claiming the guitar worked!

If you SAY it WORKS it MUST by LAW! Read our TRADING STANDARDS page!

Apart from that a lovely day allthough there is some gossip brewing about me that I must investigate!!
