Far be it for me to stir things up a bit but….
We had our first Car Boot at MONKEY TREE which clashed (deliberate on my behalf) with the Tretherras School Annual Christmas Fayre which I understand was packed out but a load of the buyers came from the school to explore ‘where is Monkey Tree’ There were ten sellers who were treated to a FREE stall plus a £3.00 off voucher for Truro plus a £3.00 off voucher for next week’s Car Boot however during the two and a half hours the sellers took very good money supported by a lot of sellers mostly regulars and locals and lots coming from Tretherras. So, I am not expecting it to be that busy to start with but I do forecast Monkey Tree will be very good once established! We may even change the day or time but I am keen for your opinions on Monkey Tree! What time, what day? Watch this space!

We have promoted Truro Cattle Market over the past few weeks and today were the best November Sunday on record with 120 sellers and over 1500 people on site during the very successful sale both for buyers and sellers. As you know I have a good look around the stalls when they are being set up, I have to congratulate all stall holders on the high standard of merchandise that was on sale and what BARGAINS! Several sellers took over £250.00 and I am not telling tales but I saw one stall take £175.00 on his first customer. A great time to buy Christmas pressies with huge savings on kids toys but more than just seeking bargains or selling to make a few extra pounds for Christmas the atmosphere today at Truro was fantastic in keeping with all of our Cornwall Car Boot Sales everyone was happy and friendly and nice, not one complaint no problems just nice people enjoying a bit of sunshine and fresh air.

However the salacious gossips that Lou and I hear is amazing for instance we have heard that one lady seller has changed partners 4 that’s FOUR times this year so far, I wouldn’t say she was unattractive but her last partners guide dog kept biting her! You will remember I told you about Anne going to Tunisia for a week and coming back with the most amazing and unbelievable tan you could wish for and I was privileged to a quick navel display to prove the tan was everywhere. Now then, far be it for me to stir things up a bit but Marge told me in total confidence the tan came out of a bottle and that Anne now has the nickname of TANFASTIC meaning her ‘alleged tan’ came out of a bottle! I think there is a little bit of jealousy from Marge on this subject cos her holiday in the scorching hot Penryn Sands didn’t even give her a hot flush or maybe it’s because I said rumours abound that Ann could be in line for the wife number five that I have been looking for many years! God forbid, I couldn’t stand the pace socializing all the time and amazing pub crawls twice weekly at least! Yup that would suit me fine! (Her husband would SHOOT me)

Yesterday (Monday) we had a meeting with Sarah the General Manager of White River Shopping Complex and Multi Storey Car Park to discuss the request for Car Boots Cornwall to run indoor Car Boot Sales on floors 2 & 3 inside the spacious car parking areas. Apparently a charity tried sales for a few weeks some time ago. This is what I think, it is a brilliant indoor location and completely under cover, the entire complex which includes shops and stores and restaurants is presented to a very-very high standard and there are lifts on all levels. The idea would be that CBC would take up floor number 3 for its sellers and the buyers would park on level 2
Each seller would get 3 car spaces and there would be a restriction on numbers of sellers so if this location were to be as good as some of the up-country Multi Storey Car Boot Sales we may have to consider a reserve bookings system however it is important to remember this opportunity is for ONE day per week and that is SUNDAYS with a probable start time of 10.00 am to coincide with the opening time of the shops. Let’s have some thoughts please before I put forward our proposition to Sarah who is keen for success. However it widens the choice for many of our customers who can include a visit to Truro at 1.30 pm……more to follow!
