St AUSTELL latest!

We had a site meeting at TOTEM with the owner and a member of the LIONS CLUB where it was agreed that Car Boots Cornwall would run up to 10 Car Boot Sales before CHRISTMAS at TOTEM on behalf of the LIONS CLUB and proceeds of the sales would go to their charities.

The Landlord advised the rating authority what was intended and they said we would have to put an application to hold the charity Car Boot Sales which would take 6 weeks before any approval would be received!

For the record it is 6 weeks before Christmas so red tape once again has thwarted our opportunity to raise monies for the various LIONS CLUB charities.
We must therefore accept the requirement for permission to operate these sales will not be granted due to the timing factor.

However there is a possibility that CBC could operate Car Boot Sales in the New Year at this site before it is bulldozed to create a new Car Park for neighbours TESCO’S! Watch this space!

ST AUSTELL-Part 2
Readers will remember our Car Boot Sales at PAR MOOR ROAD from years ago when the same rating authorities demanded rates from CBC which we refused to pay. They sent a summons to us for 0ver £3000.00 which eventually we paid, however several months later we were contacted and advised that a full refund with interest would be paid back to CBC

The Landlord of the proposed Motor Museum on Par Moor Road has agreed for Car Boots Cornwall to run Car Boot Sales on his land and that all rents would be paid direct to Mount Edcombe Hospice.

We are in the process of preparing a planning application for the proposed Car Boot Sales for the period of one year only hopefully commencing at Easter time.

I admire the dedication of the LIONS CLUB and their teams who raise thousands of pounds for charities throughout the UK they give their services FREE of charge and it is creditable that a Landlord gives the full and FREE use of his property for these charity events to take place!

More to follow.

Geoff
