Last Saturday at Mitchell several of the buyers were chatting amongst themselves while waiting for the Car Boot Sale to start and one of them said that his worst fear was to arrive too late for the start of one of our sales.

We thought that was a nice compliment and surveyed other customers during the week!!

Lots of them had the greatest fear of spiders, mice, rats and snakes.
Other said losing their partner would be their greatest fear.

Losing their jobs or not having money is high on lots of answers, falling off a cliff or into the road or drowning is greatest fears but the most honest answer is MY MOTHER IN LAW from someone who refused to give me his name!

My GREATEST FEAR! Louise finding out!!

A 43 year old woman Marie Topp was granted bail today after pleading NOT GUILTY to biting off her boyfriends testicles. I know that lot up in the North East they are canny but HARD! Bet while she is on bail she tries to sell them at a Car Boot! But seriously lads would’nt that HURT!! JEEPS!! I can just imagine Marie saying “And now I am going to BITE OFF YOUR NUTS!! The trial will take 2-3 days. Comments please!! Geoff x

David Rule a regular just comfirmed that Russell is ok and he was seen selling at HAYLE last Sunday. He has apparently been suffering from blood clot problems.

Thanks for that David that means there all the regulars have checked in and are well.

Tuesday a great day with lots of sellers and buyers however we did receive several complaints that a lady was going from stall to stall trying to sell a Doberman puppy.

It is against the law to sell and animals at Car Boot Sales and Markets and if you get asked to ‘buy a puppy’ please let us know immediately!

Russell is in his eighties and has been a regular Car Booter over 20 years.
He sells at Hayle, Roseudgeon and Falmouth.

Sometimes he is known as Mr Grumps but Russell and I go back years, we are both ex-military men but my regiment was the best and the senior REGIMENT of the British Army! HM The Life Guards!

WHERE ARE YOU RUSSELL? There are crowds asking about you – well Ann asked!

What about this a man comes up to me and says “I have lost my son can you help find him”

We have a routine over lost kids so asked him his sons name and what he was wearing.
I assured the man he will be safe ‘how old is he’
He is 31
‘He is WHAT’
31 he repeated.
‘You expect me and my staff to go looking for a 31 year old with up to 2800 people – no chance’

An hour later a lady brings a 2 year old boy who was lost and the experience did not bother him.
Candy & Andrea found his parents but we didn’t get a reward.
GREAT DAY nice people, if you were there THANKYOU if not why not!

I had a bet with Hayley that MABE would be much busier than Truro so I would put her in charge of Truro!

Much to my surprise Truro was the clear winner but I proved the point that the two sales were well received by Mr & Mrs Public.

Nearly 5000 people attended both locations there are not many High Street’s who can boast that figure for just over 3 hours trading!

Shopkeepers should look to our Car Boot Sales as a way to improve their business-But they must provide BARGAINS!!

Latest; I do not have permission from Hayley to put a picture with this item as we could not afford the fee!

You will remember last year when we had some ‘bright spark’ Market Trader selling UGGS the famous Australian Boots.

He told me he was the trader dealing with all UGG seconds in the South West.

I contacted UGGS and told them about the fake looking seconds being sold in NEWQUAY and they advised that UGG would never allow seconds, if the boots dont come up to the high standards they will be incinerated.

SUNDAY-MABE 10th April I received a complaint that a ‘white van’ stall was selling the same UGG fakes.
Louise went to the stall and he claimed they were seconds ‘but I will take them off if you want’

Lou then told him the rules about FAKES advising him that we are duty bound to inform TRADING STANDARDS who on arrival would confiscate his stock and his vehicle and he would be arrested for knowingly selling FAKES!
She looked over the stock on his stall and told him she thought 90% of his stock was fake!

Mr BRIGHT SPARK packed and left within 5 minutes!
These people ‘piss me off’ they dont care about the genuine sellers and bring Car Boot Sales into disrepute!

One up-country Car Boot Sale was cancelled by the Police and Trading Standards for similar reasons!
