What a great start for the first new Car Boot Sales held at Tretherras School on Sunday morning at 10.00am when one of our regulars asked the price of a 3 handle loving cup.

The asking price of only 50p was paid.

We estimate the value of £250 to £300

Bargain!

Dear Geoff,

Lovely talking with you this afternoon, and thank you so much again for agreeing to post this on the website. As I say, we are working to a very tight deadline now so your help is very much appreciated. This is what we would like to go up:

NEW C4 DOCUMENTARY: ARE YOU A COMPULSIVE HOARDER?

Award-winning TV company Twenty Twenty are making a documentary series about hoarding.

Our series will take a therapeutic approach – following a group of current sufferers on a unique 10 week therapy program, which will combine specialist decluttering in the home. We want to show how hoarding affects real lives, and explore the complexities of this often misunderstood condition.

We are now looking for people to take part in the series.

We’re particularly keen to speak to people who might care for a family, work full or part time, are married or in a relationship, and who have an active social life – but who also hoard. Perhaps you keep it secret from friends and colleagues? Or maybe you’re living with a hoarding partner and don’t know what to do?

If you would like to know more about the project, please contact Rachel or Emma for an informal chat on 02074247720 or email

Please also find our flyer attached. Totally at your discretion of course, but should you know of anybody who you think might be open to talking with us — or who might benefit from our project — please do pass this in their direction.

Thanks again Geoff, and I look forward to speaking with you soon.

Have a great weekend!

Rachel

Mr W. Williams tells lies!

This guy Williams phoned and asked Louise about Car Boot Sales on Mondays, she was her usual totally polite to the caller advising there were NO Car Boot Sales on MONDAYS. I was standing next to her when she spoke with Williams then he sends the following email! The HOME page tells everyone what Car Boot Sales are on but Mr W. Williams obviously did not read the details! Wonder what the ‘W’ stands for? Name: mr williams Email: Subject: staff phone call Message: i would just like to say that i’ve just phone you to ask about mabes car boot sale which you advertised on your web page today! the lady in question who took my call was very abrupt and rude when i asked her if mabe car boot was on today. i think you need to teach this person some telephone manners! plus you need to get your website page sorted out too! as there are going to be alot of unhappy customers turning up at these avents! when your information is CLEARLY not correct when looking on your site!! after the phone call i did notice it was changed straight away! i rest my case!! We now know that the white van involved in this incident is;

White RENAULT VAN Registration number R480 RMO

Name: Andrew
Email:

Subject: Assaulted at Truro car boot

Message: Hello Geoff, I am the guy who was assaulted at your Truro car boot sale on Saturday 23rd July.
I’m sure you remember the incident – The person who punched me in the back of the head and face then tried to run me down with his white van, and also nearly ran over one of your car boot staff!
Just a quick message to thank you for your help on the day and to say how relieved I was to hear you say you have barred this violent person from any future car boots that you run.

Punching someone in the back or the head is a very cowardly and dangerous thing to do, Next time he could end up really hurting someone badly. Needless to say the Police are taking the incident very seriously.

I hope you know how to identify this person so he cannot enter your car boot sales again? If I see him at one if your car boots do you want me to point him out so you can evict him?
I have seen him selling at the other carboots in hayle and rosudgean and I feel the orginisers of these car boots should also be made aware of this incident and advised to ban this violent individual as well.
Would you be prepared to talk to the orginiser of these other car boots if I gave them your number?
I’ll let you know how the police investigation goes. I understand the police contacted you already? Did you inform them you also have a complaint agaist this person for nearly running down your member of staff?
I spoke to your member of staff in question (very helpful and nice guy) later in the day and he rightfully seemed angry about almost being run down. Best regards, Andrew

P.S. I’m really looking forward to the mabefest event. It looks amazing! I shall be telling all of my friends about it and I’m sure a group of us will attend. Good luck with it all.

COMMENT
The police have spoken with me I told them I had seen the man drive his car at your friend as he sped out of the car park hitting Arlin.
I also saw a young girl in the front seat of the white van but I did not see the driver.

According to information the man sells at Hayle and Roseudgon sellers say I know him however whoever he is the entire CAR BOOT COMMUNITY of Cornwall can do without him he is a DANGER and if the Police want to press charges we will support and witness for you.

Sadly I believe this case will be dropped it seems the norm in Great Britian for someone to get a punch in the face over minor reasons and not be able to see the offender punished.

I have barred this man for life and I call on the Managers of Hayle Roseudgeon & Poole to bar this man from all Car Boot Sales in the South West.

I met Barry* in 1989 shortly after we started Car Boot Sales and we have been friends since then. Customers come to show Lou and me some of the items they have bought at our sales but they quite often over estimate the value of their purchases. Its nice to daydream that one day you will find a STUNNING BARGAIN. The Car Boot Sale at Falmouth Rugby Club had started at 12.30pm and around 2.00pm Barry* arrived late as usual for his weekly look for something to read. Picking up several books he asked how much they were and paid a pound for five. Before he left he came up and showed me his books saying ‘I believe this is a FIRST EDITION James Bond CASINO ROYALE book and it says 1954 first published by Jonathon Cape’ The book was in pristine condition so I believed Barry when he told me it could be worth a couple of hundred quid and his intention was to read the JAMES BOND novel then sell it on eBay. Delighted that after research the book was probably going to fetch around £400.00 for Barry* so he listed the first edition 007 book with a £300.00 reserve. On the day of the sale the book was stuck on £370.00 as he excitedly looked as the minutes ticked by to the end of the auction! Within the last 10 seconds the book reached a staggering £1826.00 offer from America, so excited was the buyer that he paid a total of £1900.00 by PAYPAL for the book and its safe recorded by Air Mail delivery within 4 days. I know this story to be true but here is the punchline Barry moaned about having to pay the 30p admission charge-the B’stard! Geoff X Name changed to protect the identity* I believe posh Anne sold the book!
