hi jeff and lou and gang

I only wish the people who (try) and organize bootys down here would look at your website and take note that you get it right, look forward to seeing you all soon.

What a rotten day with heavy drizzle from 4.00am.

We live about 5 minutes from MABE and it looked a dead cert to be cancelled however there were so many phone calls and our website was hit 420 times that I was determined to GO AHEAD!

We arrived to a queue of 6 cars and the catering trailer the weather drizzled and drizzled some more but through sheer determination over 60 cars queued to sell.

The buyers came in by their hundreds and the Car Boot Sale started at 1.30 pm

I have it on extremely reliable information that the sellers were rewarded by some good spending from the buyers with BARGAINS GALORE on offer.

With HAYLE and Carn Brea suffering due to the weather we were well supported……thank you!

Anne was ‘on a high’ as she left the field with ‘double thumbs up’ as she had traded well, if we are lucky we get one or two fingers but today the ‘lady did well’

Lovely to see Pete and Wendy today he had a complicated heart operation which has been very successful which should make us all proud of our great hospitals and nursing staff. Thank you my lovers!

Lisa,

If I delete your phone number can I copy this onto the website, I feel totally ‘pissed off’ for you in this lawless society. Vandals did £3000.00 of damage to one of our locations-for fun over last weekend!

Keep strong Lisa your husband will be back soon and you will be your family once again.

Nice comment about the Car Boots, thank you.

Regards

Geoff

Hi there Geoff,

That comment had nothing to do with the carboot sale, just how i have been feeling recently due to a theft that occured 2 weeks ago.
We own a derelict grade 2 listed building in Redruth and my husband has been risking his life in Afghanistan to try to raise the money to restore the building. Then 2 weeks ago they broke in and stole all our power tools valued at £3500 even though all was secure and padlocked. It was a professional job and someone local must have known the contents of the building. And 2 years ago we had £7000 of scrap metal stolen and we have also had all the lead stolen from the roof.
So anyway its still a bit bitter in my system.
Never any bad experiances at the car boot, only good ones.

Cheers Lisa

Lisa,

Before I put this one to bed with my comments I note you say ‘there are decent people among the sh**heads’ tell me more about them how have they upset you? I should have taken a picture of your lovely daughter to put with the story but the few I spoke with were genuinely pleased for your husband.

Regards,

Geoff

Bloody cold Winds!!

Thursday promised to be rainy according to the BBC who got it wrong again all we got for the day was strong winds.

Sellers kept phoning from 8.30 asking ‘is it going ahead’ they were also reporting drizzle in some areas so it was touch and go if we would go ahead!

14 Sellers and the caterers turned up so it went ahead and was brilliantly supported by devoted regulars and some plucky holidaymakers….thank you for your support………

ps; It was FREE to buyers and five quid for sellers who certainly took money and went home with a happy smile.

Bottom line; All over within 90 minutes and empty fields.

GOSSIP & PADSTOW!

PADSTOW! FREE to SELL from Wednesday June 17th at 12.00 noon. WHY?

I had a great meeting with the Landlord of PADSTOW and Kim our mutual friend; it was KIM who convinced Landlord Brian to let us run Car Boot Sales on his land.

He has agreed our use of 20 acres in all for the FREE to SELL Car Boot Sales and he is happy that there will be NO CHARGE to sellers and agrees with the 50 p per person entrance fee. WHY!

Hopefully the saving will pay for your FUEL or towards the cost of the day. We are not looking for huge profit here is a great opportunity to sell your unwanted items, what a great way to recycle and the COMMUNITY atmosphere at our Car Boot Sales can always be relied upon.

It is against the law to leave litter or rubbish at any of our locations which is classed as FLY-TIPPING recently at MABE a man driving away from his stall left boxes of rubbish and litter and refused to return until I advised him not to sell at our Car Boot Sales again.
This was met with him returning to his rubbish and apologising on the way out.

Ladies my lovers, will you keep any eye out for us and tell if someone is leaving without taking his or her rubbish please!

PADSTOW will be good, we had a dreadful start last year with repeated RAINED OFF days however on the days that went ahead we did not receive any complaints about the lack of spending from sellers.

From our observations the tourists and locals spent well, Louise sold at one of the sales and took around £160.00 the lowest take I heard was from someone selling videos (almost a lost cause now) but they made 48 quids.

I wonder if Mildred, Posh Ann, Anne, MARGE, Dave (GAJL) Pat, Patricia, David, and Phyllis (hot-stuff) will be there! It will be like going overseas for some of them. Get your passports to PADSTOW ready! Who is bringing the drinks!

By the way all admissions are 50 p each that includes sellers as well as buyers!

THINKS OF THE BARGAINS!
Ps; Sweety man is back, BUBBLES is back! Seconds away-ROUND 2……..

Looks like my wish for rain on Wednesday won’t happen and the forecasters say it will rain heavily on Thursday-whatever! Bet we go ahead on Thursday!

What a BARGAIN for three quid!

A regular of ours went to one of todays sellers and found this bag with old pound shillings and pence currency and asked the price of the bag.
Three pounds was the reply.
What about the coins do you want to take them out?
No they are included in the price.

What a bargain with loads of old pennies, halfpennies, a full bag of throopenny bits, tanners, two bobs, florins, shillings, half crowns and a bag of silver throopeny bits and even the copper bags are collectable!

Lots of US$ coins-all in all worth about £60.00 and the bag itself cleaned up worth an extra twenty nicker!

Newquay is a great place for BARGAINS today was no exception!

Update 27th May.
I met a coin dealer today who tells me he would happily by the lot for one hundred pounds without the bag!

Which mindless idiots did this?

It is no use moaning about rain we need it for our farmers and the lands, the reservoir at Stithians is lowing so lets hope we get some thunderous rains on Monday and Wednesday next week.

We dont have any of our events on those two days so let it RAIN my lovers! Who cares!

Today at MITCHELL we had a light shower at 12.00 which lasted over one hour but loads of sellers opted for going home. The ones that remained did very well as buyers took advantage of thousands of BARGAINS!

Tomorrow SUNDAY at MABE looks great weather could be busy!

Gossip to follow!

Geoff

ps; 6.45 am
Early morning call from David Leggo the Landlord of Mitchell to tell me that some mindless idiots had broken down the new gates of Mitchell then skidded their vehicles around the Car Boot Sale fields and finally set fire to 3 of the PORTABLE TOILETS!
Total cost of damage about £3000.00
BASTARDS!

Delighted to confirm that we are holding a Car Boot Sale at Tretherras School for the School Summer Holidays lasting 6 weeks only on SUNDAYS JULY 31st 7th 14th 21st 28th of August and 4th September.

We will employ 6th formers to help supervise this car boot which will help them in getting used to the public-that’s you and me! Be nice to them…RESPECT!

WE return to Tretherra School for the winter period from SUNDAY 9th October using the indoor SPORTS HALL and outdoor TENNIS COURTS.

What a lovely location and I was stunned how happy the kids were as they waited for the school bell to ring to begins their exams!
Great school politeness all round and we are happy to help the school raise some cash for their great school!

Just one slight moan I saw two lads smoking against the school building-cut it out lads that’s not good for the schools reputation, by the way 4 of our regular customers died last month through LUNG CANCER caused by smoking!
When I got caught smoking at school the teacher punched me!
Times change.
A great experience negotiating with the Deputy Head. Please support. Thank you.
