MY FIRST PORTH! Yippee!

After negotiations with all concerned we start Car Boot Sales at this fabulous location today at 1.00pm I am so chuffed to be in Porth, I remember years ago MARKETS were held here they were thriving but the Market trading subsided everywhere as the High Street Supermarkets competed with better prices. If this site is supported it will be the BEST WINTER CAR BOOT SALE ANYWHERE IN THE SOUTH WEST! It is a lovely clean site conprising of facilities for hundreds of caravans and the beach is ‘just across the road’ Fantastic views bracing winds fresh air and now a Car Boots Cornwall Car Boot Sales The Mermaid great local pub (just across the road Pat) and a WALK on the BEACH after the Booty! Come on MOTHER get your bum out of that armchair we are going out, and put your combinations on its gonna be breezy!! Geoff ps; I love Grandma’s if it was,nt for them we would not be here! Randy lot! St AUSTELL latest!

We had a site meeting at TOTEM with the owner and a member of the LIONS CLUB where it was agreed that Car Boots Cornwall would run up to 10 Car Boot Sales before CHRISTMAS at TOTEM on behalf of the LIONS CLUB and proceeds of the sales would go to their charities.

The Landlord advised the rating authority what was intended and they said we would have to put an application to hold the charity Car Boot Sales which would take 6 weeks before any approval would be received!

For the record it is 6 weeks before Christmas so red tape once again has thwarted our opportunity to raise monies for the various LIONS CLUB charities.
We must therefore accept the requirement for permission to operate these sales will not be granted due to the timing factor.

However there is a possibility that CBC could operate Car Boot Sales in the New Year at this site before it is bulldozed to create a new Car Park for neighbours TESCO’S! Watch this space!

ST AUSTELL-Part 2
Readers will remember our Car Boot Sales at PAR MOOR ROAD from years ago when the same rating authorities demanded rates from CBC which we refused to pay. They sent a summons to us for 0ver £3000.00 which eventually we paid, however several months later we were contacted and advised that a full refund with interest would be paid back to CBC

The Landlord of the proposed Motor Museum on Par Moor Road has agreed for Car Boots Cornwall to run Car Boot Sales on his land and that all rents would be paid direct to Mount Edcombe Hospice.

We are in the process of preparing a planning application for the proposed Car Boot Sales for the period of one year only hopefully commencing at Easter time.

I admire the dedication of the LIONS CLUB and their teams who raise thousands of pounds for charities throughout the UK they give their services FREE of charge and it is creditable that a Landlord gives the full and FREE use of his property for these charity events to take place!

More to follow.

Hi Geoff

Great speaking to you earlier. Hope you got out of Truro OK before all the city of light traffic started.

The reason for my call was that we have a donated household good charity auction on Wednesday night and have been badly let down by the Newquay Papers who both left the event out of this week’s publications!

We are organising a household auction at the Quint Inn in Quintrell Downs Nr Newquay on Wed 23rd Nov. Viewing is from 4pm, with the auction starting at 6.30.

I was wondering if you would able to help us promote this event via your network of events and contacts, perhaps by letting us put posters etc up at your sales this weekend, and giving out flyers to stall holders/customers, and maybe putting it on your website.

The goods up for auction have all been donated via our shops network and house clearance service, but are unsuitable for sale in to the shops (usually due to space restrictions). The lots will be made up of collectables, gifts and household items. There will also be numerous boxes of contents up for auction, perfect for Car Booters! .

The auction is being run by a local auctioneer who is doing the entire event commission free so 100% of the money raised will go to Cornwall Hospice Care. The last auction we did last month raised almost £500, but we want to double it for this one!

Also I think it would be great to meet up when you have time to do so as I think there could be lots of ways in the future we could work together.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks once again for your time.

Best Wishes

Regulars will remember when we had a fantastic Car Boot Sale opposite PAR MARKET until the Restormel rating department demanded we pay rates for our Car Boot Sales.

I argued with them that we do not have to pay rates however they sent the Bailiffs to collect either £3000.00 or the contents of my shop or my house so I paid the bill still in defiance.

Reluctantly we left Par Moor Road.

SIX months later I received a call from the rating department to advise they would pay a complete refund with interest and that I was right in refusing to pay!

No written apology just a cheque!
But I did have the last laugh because the rating department sent the bill to the greedy Mr Bar Stard landlord who demanded £600.00 each week to run the Car Boot Sales!

However, we have been asked to run Car Boot Sales by the 82 year old gentleman owner of the proposed Motor Museum for one year on his land at Par Moor Road. He does not want a penny all rent proceeds to go to Mount Edgecombe Hospital in memory of his lovely wife.

You see, there is a real world out there and there are some lovely people!

However,
I went to Planning Department they initially said no!
More red tape but I do intend winning this one and propose opening for APRIL and we are 100% behind the wish of this Landlordin his ambition to raise monies for Mount Edgecombe Hospice. Any bets?

The staff at Restormel Offices: FANTASTIC!

MARGE you are so trustworthy!

Here is a picture of Marge wandering around the stalls at Newquay in June 2011

What is wrong in the picture?

It is dangerous to have your purse in your hand like that Marge you would be a walk-over for a mugger, I thought about rolling you because I am certain the purse would be full of 10/- ten shilling notes! Hah.

Welcome back from your holidays Marge we missed you…………..ish!

ps; Did you take your mobile?

This stall was set up at our Newquay Car Boot Sale in August featuring all HALLOWEEN & witchcraft fun. I saw two grandma’s who were ticked pink at the tricks they were going to play on the family with the two body carcases they had bought from the stall. Some ‘shrtsighted’ man asked me ‘Where did they get the meat’ Ha Ha, Bloody funny! Great stall with imagination! Geoff

YOU MUST STOP SMOKING!

I am an ex smoker of tobacco and nicotine but I do partake of the occasional herbal mixture which you can buy from the health food shops.
Its called Farmers HONEYBLEND TOBACCO FREE-NICOTINE FREE!

It is a dreadful habit to smoke whilst selling at our Car Boot Sales, on Saturday at Mitchell I received a complaint that one lady was actually smoking whilst selling babygrows and bedding!

Today at Falmouth I asked two stallholders ‘dont smoke behind your stall please’

But the one that takes the biscuit was this man who always has a fag hanging out of his gob and he says
“Scuse me Geoff is it alright if I sell fireworks they are bankruptcy stock” I said he could put some on display and I will come and have a look.

When his stall is set up he calls me with a lit fag in his mouth and says “Here are the fireworks I was telling you about” and to save energy he actually blew the ash off his fag into the box of fireworks!

I cannot tell you my actual words about him being an effing stupid PRATT endangering others so he put the stock back into his car and sat inside and SMOKED!!
BANG!!!!

Back to smoking if you can give it up you certainly will live longer, sadly over our 22 years we have seen countless people ‘for the last time’ as they pay the ultimate sacrifice for smoking!

One convert is our Kim once a heavy smoker she has given up for almost a year and admits she is feeling much healthier!

When Lou gave up she was so bad tempered shouting at me all the time which is when she caught me cheating by having a FAG in the shower she turned the shower on drenched me and took months to get over it.

Anyway from 40 a day I genuinely stopped overnight.

Well, almost you know.

Come on lets admit it we all have a nasty side to our personalities and one of them it to ‘never admit you are in the wrong’

You know the sort of thing when you will not give in when you are clearly in the wrong!
Its a womans world! they are right! say sorry lads.

Just put your arm around them and say ‘Sorry Darling I was wrong and you are right’ and I still love you!!

Go on go on!

I AM SORRY!!!

There you are EASY!

Then, take her out for a meal buy, buy her some flowers, say nice things to her, take her to bed and then FALL ASLEEP!! Hah!

Sorry,

Geoff
